Design

The reverse shows a stylized bird soaring freely in flight, accompanied by the inspiring legend:
“PRISON WALLS CANNOT CONTROL THE FLIGHT OF THE SOUL.”
Unlike most Society of Medalists issues, this medal is oval in shape, measuring approximately 65 mm × 84 mm. It was struck by the Medallic Art Company in a rich golden bronze with graphite-brown patina. This example comes with its original box.
