Design
The obverse presents a Christ-like figure standing before a vast, stylized multitude of densely packed, anonymous human forms arranged in tight ranks—symbolizing the crowded modern world and the challenges of overpopulation.
The reverse depicts a freer, more open scene of a few figures gamboling joyfully among flying birds, representing the relatively uncrowded world of centuries past and its “pagan joys.” Signed below: S.J. © 1972.
Struck in high relief by the Medallic Art Company of New York, the medal measures approximately 73 mm in diameter and features a distinctive golden bronze finish with green-tan patina. This example comes with its original box.
