1922-D Lincoln Wheat Cent – NGC F15 Brown
The 1922-D Lincoln Wheat Cent is an important issue in the popular Lincoln cent series. In 1922, the Denver Mint was the only United States Mint facility to strike Lincoln cents, making every genuine circulation-strike cent from that year a Denver issue. Reduced demand for one-cent coins following the post-World War I recession resulted in a relatively low mintage, and heavy die wear during production created several famous varieties, including the highly sought-after 1922 "No D" cent.
Designed by Victor David Brenner, the obverse features a portrait of President Abraham Lincoln, while the reverse displays the classic Wheat Ears design that was used from 1909 through 1958.
