Why the 1922-D Is Interesting
The year 1922 was unusual in Lincoln cent production. No cents were struck at Philadelphia or San Francisco that year; Denver was the only Mint producing Lincoln cents.
The 1922-D also has a fascinating place in Lincoln cent collecting because some dies had problems with the D mint mark. This resulted in coins with weak or nearly invisible mint marks and, in rare cases, the famous 1922 No D cents.
