Design
The obverse features a finely modeled bust of Thomas Jefferson facing left, surrounded by the iconic opening lines of the Declaration of Independence in three concentric circles:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident – that all men are created equal… Life – Liberty – and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

The reverse presents a rich allegorical composition celebrating the birth of the nation. It includes standing Liberty, Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the Mayflower at sea, a scene from the Boston Tea Party with a British revenue stamp, and the coffins of the Boston Massacre victims. The legend reads:
“THE UNANIMOUS DECLARATION OF THE THIRTEEN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.”
Struck by the renowned Medallic Art Company of New York, the medal measures approximately 73 mm in diameter and has an irregular, slightly sub-rounded shape characteristic of this issue. It is offered here with its original box.
