The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Jefferson with the inscription “AMERICAN REVOLUTION BICENTENNIAL” and “THOMAS JEFFERSON.” The reverse depicts Independence Hall behind the Declaration of Independence and includes the famous words “LIFE, LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.” Designed by sculptor Michael Lantz, the medal is a historically significant Bicentennial collectible.
