Description
This ancient silver coin was struck during the reign of Peroz I, King of Kings of the Sasanian Empire from approximately AD 457/459 to 484. It is an AR drachm, the primary silver denomination of the Sasanian monetary system and one of the most influential trade coins of the ancient Near East.
Peroz I ruled during a challenging era for the Sasanian Empire, facing repeated conflicts with the Hephthalites (White Huns) and regional instability. His reign ended with a catastrophic defeat against the Hephthalites in AD 484, resulting in his death and a major crisis for the empire.

Historical Significance
