Description

A scarce and attractive late Qing Dynasty Szechuan Province silver coin featuring a dramatic obverse lamination error. Issued during the final years of the Qing Empire under the reign of Emperor Xuantong (宣統帝, 1908–1912), this coin represents China's transition from traditional imperial coinage to modern machine-struck currency.

The coin was produced at the Szechuan (Sichuan) Mint, one of China's important provincial mints. Provincial silver coinage from this period is highly collected due to the variety of designs, minting characteristics, and historical importance.

This example features a noticeable planchet lamination defect on the obverse extending approximately from 8 o'clock to 1 o'clock, created during the manufacturing process when layers of the metal separated before striking. The coin displays an attractive natural chocolate brown tone with strong remaining detail and excellent eye appeal for the grade.
