Byzantine Empire – Maurice Tiberius AE Follis
Emperor Maurice Tiberius • AD 582–602 • Large "M" Reverse with ANNO & Cross

A historic bronze follis from the Byzantine Empire during the reign of Emperor Maurice Tiberius (AD 582–602), a ruler who governed the empire during a challenging period of military conflict and political change.

The obverse features the emperor's portrait, which shows wear consistent with its long circulation history. The reverse, however, retains strong historical appeal with the large and clearly recognizable "M" denomination mark, indicating 40 nummi, along with the important Byzantine date and control markings including ANNO and the prominent cross symbol.

Despite the softened portrait, the well-preserved reverse design allows collectors to appreciate the distinctive style of Byzantine coinage and the continuation of Roman traditions in the Eastern Empire.
