Bristol Commercial Penny Token – 1811 – King George III – Copper – VF Condition

Offered is an 1811 Bristol Commercial Penny Token featuring King George III, in attractive Very Fine (VF) condition.

The obverse features a detailed bust of King George III facing right, with the inscription ONE PENNY TOKEN and the date 1811. The reverse displays the coat of arms of the City of Bristol, including the castle and ship, with the motto CIVITAS BRISTOL.

This historic copper token was issued during the early 19th-century shortage of official small-denomination coinage and is an interesting example of British provincial commercial token coinage.

The token retains good detail with moderate circulation wear consistent with a VF grade.
