Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this historic cent was produced during the difficult economic period of the early 1930s. The low production figure quickly became known to collectors, and many examples were saved rather than spent in everyday commerce. As a result, uncirculated examples of the 1931-S are considerably easier to find today than its tiny mintage might suggest, because of this early hoarding.

A Famous Lincoln Cent Date

The Lincoln Wheat Cent
