The Type 1 design is distinguished by Liberty's exposed right breast and the reverse featuring an eagle with no stars below it.
This example is graded Extremely Fine (XF), showing light to moderate circulation wear while retaining strong detail in Liberty, the shield, lettering, and eagle. The Type 1 design was used only in 1916 and part of 1917, making this a short-lived and desirable variety.
