A historic example of Imperial Chinese coinage, this 1736 Qing Dynasty Qianlong Tongbao Bao Yuan Brass Coin was issued during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor (1736–1795), one of the most influential rulers of the Qing Dynasty.
The Qianlong Tongbao series was among the most widely circulated cash coinages of the Qing Empire. This example features the Bao Yuan (Boo Yuen) mint mark, identifying production at the Board of Revenue Mint in Beijing, one of the principal imperial mints responsible for Qing cash coinage.
Measuring approximately 22.5 mm in diameter, 1.3 mm in thickness, and weighing 3.4 grams, this brass cash coin has been graded GBCA 85, representing an attractive certified example of an 18th-century Chinese imperial coin.
