A historic bronze coin issued during the reign of Constantine I "The Great" (AD 307–337), one of the most influential emperors of the Roman Empire. Constantine is renowned for legalizing Christianity through the Edict of Milan and for founding Constantinople, which became the new imperial capital.
The reverse features the famous GLORIA EXERCITVS ("Glory of the Army") design, depicting two Roman soldiers standing face-to-face, each holding a spear and resting a hand on a shield, with one or two military standards between them. Introduced around AD 330, this type celebrated the strength, discipline, and loyalty of the Roman army during a period of military and administrative reform.
The GLORIA EXERCITVS series was struck at mints across the Roman Empire and became one of the most widely circulated coin types of the Constantinian period. Today, these coins are among the most recognizable issues of late Roman numismatics and are highly valued for their historical significance and military symbolism.
