At the height of his rule, Muhammad II controlled one of the largest empires of the medieval Islamic world, extending across Khwarazm, Transoxiana, Persia, and parts of Afghanistan before its dramatic collapse following the Mongol invasions.
This coin was struck at the Taliqan mint, an important medieval center located in the eastern regions of the Khwarazmian realm. The Jital was a widely circulating denomination in eastern Islamic territories, particularly in Afghanistan and the Indian frontier regions, where smaller billon coinage was essential for everyday commerce.
