Historical Background:
Constantine II was the eldest surviving son of Constantine the Great. He was appointed Caesar in AD 317 while still a child and eventually became Augustus alongside his brothers following the death of their father in AD 337.
During his time as Caesar, Constantine II was responsible for territories in the western part of the Roman Empire and participated in the military and political affairs of the Constantinian dynasty.
His reign was relatively brief. In AD 340, Constantine II invaded the territory of his younger brother Constans, but was defeated and killed near Aquileia. His death left Constans in control of his territories.
