Description
A scarce and historically important 1905 Sinkiang (Xinjiang) Province 5 Mace silver coin from the final years of the Qing Dynasty under the reign of the Guangxu Emperor (1875–1908). Struck at the Tihwa (Dihua, modern Urumchi/Urumqi) Mint, this coin represents the unique coinage of China's far western frontier region, an area historically connected to the Silk Road and Central Asian trade routes.
Sinkiang silver coins are highly collected because of their distinctive designs, unusual denominations, and limited production compared with major Chinese provincial mints. The L&M-797 5 Mace is a recognized variety within the Sinkiang series and is listed among important provincial issues of the late Qing period.
