Brief History
This copper 10 Cash piece was struck at the Hupeh provincial mint in Wuchang during the final years of the Qing Dynasty, part of the wave of machine-struck "cash" coinage that provincial mints across China issued in the early 1900s to replace the old hand-cast copper cash coins. The "1 Peak Cloud" designation refers to a minor die variety in the cloud detailing above the dragon on the reverse — one of several such variants collectors use to distinguish otherwise similar Hupeh dragon coppers. These coins circulated widely and are commonly found well-worn, making a Mint State example with strong, original brown surfaces like this one notably scarce.
