The 1965 Washington Quarter marks the beginning of the copper-nickel clad era for the Washington quarter series. The coin features George Washington on the obverse and a heraldic eagle on the reverse. No mintmark appears on the coin, as the United States Mint suspended mintmarks during 1965–1967. The 1965 regular-issue quarter had a large mintage of 1,819,717,540 pieces. Attractive uncirculated examples can carry a premium, particularly in higher Mint State grades.
