1865 U.S. Two-Cent Piece — Very Fine (VF)
A historic 1865 U.S. Two-Cent Piece, also known as the Shield Two-Cent Piece, featuring the Union shield and the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” on the obverse. The reverse displays a large “2 CENTS” surrounded by a wheat wreath and the inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.”
This example is graded Very Fine (VF), showing moderate circulation wear while retaining clear detail in the shield, lettering, date, and wreath. The Two-Cent Piece is historically significant as the first U.S. coin to bear the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
