A historic 1853 Seated Liberty Quarter with Arrows and Rays, featuring Liberty seated on a rock on the obverse, holding a shield and liberty pole. Arrows appear on both sides of the date, while the reverse features a heraldic eagle surrounded by distinctive radiating rays.
The Arrows and Rays design was used only in 1853. The arrows and rays were added to indicate the reduction in the quarter's authorized weight that year.
